Sign language
British Sign Language (BSL) is the first or preferred language of around 70,000 people in the UK and is recognised by the Government as an official British language in its own right, with its own rich structure and grammar.
It uses hand-shapes which move in a defined space, facial expression and body language to produce a versatile and powerful language.
Basic courses are ideal for front-line staff and others who have limited but likely dealings with a BSL user, while more advanced courses explore the richness and diversity of BSL more fully.
